The European-style rabbit cage is mainly composed of cage door, bottom net, side net, back net, top net and load-bearing plate. Cage: It is one of the key components of the rabbit cage and plays a role in preventing the rabbit from escaping. Its design and production have a great effect on improving labor efficiency. Most of the doors are opened by rotating shafts, left and right, up and down, and some are pushed and pulled by rails. The material can be welded mesh, thin iron bars, bamboo boards or plastic.
The distance between the strips is sparse and dense at the bottom to prevent rabbits from escaping from the gap below. The width of the cage is generally 30-40cm, and the height is the same as or slightly lower than the height of the cage. Bottom net: It is a key part of the rabbit cage, which requires flatness, firmness, corrosion resistance, bite resistance and easy cleaning. The net clearance of the bottom net of adult rabbits is preferably 1 or 2 cm, and the bottom net of the cage of young rabbits is 1-1.1 cm. At present, there are two kinds of bottom meshes used in production: bamboo board and welded mesh. Because rabbits are prone to foot dermatitis, materials with less mechanical friction and less mechanical damage to the rabbit’s feet should be selected. Relatively speaking, bamboo board is better than welded mesh. However, the bamboo strips should have a certain thickness, the surface should be planed, the bamboo joints should be knocked flat and polished, and the burrs should be scraped off both sides of the bamboo strips. In order to effectively prevent rabbit foot dermatitis, you can try a bamboo-wood combination mesh bottom. That is, the first 2/3 of the bottom of the net is wood, and the last 1/3 is bamboo. Its advantages are that it can not only effectively prevent foot dermatitis (the friction between the wooden board and the rabbit’s foot is small, and basically no foot dermatitis occurs), but also make feces and urine leak through the gap between the bamboo boards with seams at the back (the rabbit has fixed-point defecation). It can also reduce the waste of feed and forage (when feeding, some feed or forage directly falls on the wooden board, and the rabbit can eat it again, and will not miss it). Side net, back net, top net: only play the role of anti-escape and isolation, and the mesh gap can be appropriately larger. But the bottom of the side net and back net also need to be encrypted to prevent the rabbit from escaping. During production, it was found that the rabbits between the adjacent rabbit cages ate each other’s fur, so the gap between the side nets should not be too large. Reward board: It is a plate-like item under the bottom net. Its function is to receive feces and prevent contamination of the cage and rabbits below. It is an essential part of overlapping and half-step rabbit cages.
