Rabbit cages need to be suitable for the requirements of breeding, farrowing, and lactation of rabbits. Generally based on the principle that domestic rabbits can move freely in the cage, they can be divided into breeding rabbit cages, commercial rabbit cages and baby rabbit cages according to their uses. Generally, the standard cage length is twice the body length of the adult rabbit, the cage width is 1.3 times the body length, and the cage height is 1.2 times the body length. The specific size also varies according to different breeds, ages and genders. Generally, the rabbit cages for large breeds and male rabbits should be enlarged as appropriate, with a cage width of 65-70 cm, a depth of 55 cm and a height of 45 cm.

If a wooden frame is used to embed iron wires, the interval should be 2 cm; if a wire mesh or galvanized mesh is used, the diameter of the mesh is 1 to 1.5 cm for ventilation, light transmission and prevention of animal damage. Therefore, the cage bottom plate should be movable and can be installed and removed at any time. If it is made of metal material, in order to facilitate the rabbit to walk, the mesh should not be too large, but also to allow the rabbit feces to fall, generally 1.2 ~ 1.5 cm square is appropriate. The bearing board is generally made of cement board, and in the multi-layer rabbit cage, it is the cage roof of the lower rabbit cage. The front should protrude 3 cm outside the cage, and the back should protrude 5-10 cm. It should be inclined to the rear wall of the cage, and the inclination angle should be 12-15 degrees, so that the feces and urine can flow directly into the manure ditch through the board surface, which is convenient for cleaning. The cage wall and the inner wall of the rabbit cage need to be smooth to prevent the rabbit hair from being pulled off and facilitate descaling and disinfection.
